Ventolines is built around its people. Our specialists work together on renewable energy projects and bring out the best in each other through every stage of the project. We draw on our knowledge, experience and deep commitment to devise solutions that not only add up technically, but also create value for clients, the environment and society. What we all share is the conviction that the energy transition requires partnerships, decisiveness and quality. This is where our people make a difference.

Ventolines was founded out of personal conviction. Siblings Anne and Jelma de Groot grew up on a farm – with the wind turbine placed on the farmland by their father in 1995. His leap into the unknown became the start of their lifelong mission. It allowed them to experience firsthand how renewable energy was more than just a technical solution, but also impacted the landscape, the surroundings and its people.
In 2007, they founded Ventolines with a clear purpose: to make renewable energy projects valuable to everyone, from an economic, societal and ecological perspective. From this conviction, they created an organisation centred around subject matter expertise, collaboration and commitment. What started off as a family initiative turned into a team of specialists carrying out complex projects in the energy transition, day in, day out.

Ventolines looks beyond the individual parts of a project. We connect technology, finance, the environment and operation from the first step, ensuring that renewable energy projects are not only viable, but also create genuine value for all involved. Our specialists build on lessons learnt from previous projects, and work closely with clients, partners and local communities. Combining disciplines and future-thinking allows us to make better decisions at the times when these matter most.
We draw on our experience in industry-leading projects in the Netherlands to steadily expand our international activities, using the same integrated approach as a foundation. This allows us to contribute to a reliable, affordable and future-proof energy system in the Netherlands and abroad.
The installation of a wind turbine on the farm of the De Groot family marks the foundation for the future creation of Ventolines, at a time when wind energy is still a novel concept.
Their shared passion leads Anne and Jelma de Groot to found Ventolines, with the purpose of making renewable energy projects valuable for all involved, in a rapidly professionalising market.
At a time when wind energy experiences strong growth and solar energy is making its entrance, Ventolines becomes involved in the development of large-scale wind energy projects such as SAILWIND, Westermeerwind and Windpark Fryslân.
The completion of Westermeerwind means that Ventolines has delivered a large-scale, technically complex project, at a time when wind energy projects in the Netherlands are increasing in size and complexity.
The move to Almere reflects Ventolines’ growth into a larger and ever more professional organisation, at a time when the energy transition is picking up pace and projects are getting larger.
For the first time, Ventolines combines wind and solar energy within a single system and introduces cable pooling, the sharing of a single grid connection among multiple energy sources. In a market where the pressure on the grid is increasing, this forms the basis for further system integration.
Windpark Fryslân is, at this time, the largest nearshore wind farm in the world. Its completion marks Ventolines’ contribution to one of the most notable wind energy projects in the Netherlands, and aligns with the rise in renewable energy.
Building on previous international experience – including its participation in the Block Island offshore wind project – Ventolines continues to expand its operations beyond the Netherlands, in a market that sees accelerated global usage of renewable energy. With the development of battery projects, such as the Rhino project, Ventolines adds flexibility to the energy system, responding to the growing pressure on the grid.
With Windplan Groen, Ventolines delivers the largest land-based wind project in the Netherlands, contributing to the large-scale roll-out of renewable energy.
As there is only one grid connection available, Ventolines develops the Closed Distribution System Groen (Gesloten Distributiesysteem Groen, GDG). This connects eight wind farms, a solar farm and several battery projects – including GreenPowerBank Dronten – to a single connection, making optimal use of scarce grid capacity.
Dispatch Amethyst is the first standalone battery that sees our involvement. The project is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion in mid-2026.
Ventolines contributes to the development of charging infrastructure and energy hubs, where generation, storage and consumption come together, and energy is used locally and efficiently.
Our management team combines subject matter expertise with years of experience in renewable energy projects. On the basis of a shared conviction, they work on integrated solutions creating value for clients, the environment and the energy system.
Each day, we work on renewable energy projects with over 75 specialists. Together, we guide projects through every stage, from the project design and engineering, to financing, contracting and asset management. As a result, the right decisions are made at the right time, creating maximum value.
The way we work together, as well as our approach to our projects, demonstrates our common values. These values guide our decisions, and how we build towards renewable energy day by day – together.
